Shamans of Peru: Curing diseases with the power of the Earth
One of the things that most attracts tourists who visit the jungle is learning about the art of shamanism. A practical essence of Amazonian cultures.
What are shamans?
Shamans are wise people who have contact or bond with spirits and nature. The shamans of the Peruvian Amazon have three gifts: seeing, knowing and power. See what is usually invisible to the eye such as spirits. Know the knowledge transmitted directly by the 'mother' spirits of plants and their healing powers. Being able to defend and attack using invisible shields and weapons received from spirits, to heal those suffering from illnesses.
Being a shaman is not a role chosen by the individual: for Peruvians, it is God who grants the gift of healing to the right people. The role of the shamans of Peru is essential for their community. They are the ones who protect and guide the people who live in their villages. They are beings with a higher level of consciousness who, from their own experience, have learned to connect with the spirits of nature. It is this connection, which is often passed down from generation to generation, that allows Peruvian shamans to heal and access the depths of the people who come to them to free themselves from their ailments.
Most tourists on their trip to the Peruvian Amazon usually visit towns to meet shamans from different communities. At Jungle Experiences we understand the importance of discovering new cultures and traditions. Our clients on board the different cruises through the Amazon that we offer, such as the exclusive luxury cruise ZAFIRO, have guided tours to these communities, to learn about the mysticism of the Peruvian shamans.
